1. What do you do?
I own a technology and marketing consulting company
2. What were you doing before this?
I was a VP of Program Management for an Advertising Agency and before that I was head of a Creative Department.
3. Why do you do what you do?
I like to use my technical and creative skills to help others through technology development and marketing brands.
4. What is your favorite part about being an entrepreneur?
When you own your own business everything comes down to how hard you work and invest your energy. So I like to be focused and work on strategies that helps further my business goals.
5. What do you enjoy most about what you do?
My company works with businesses who are interested in growing their business so it feels good when we accomplish results for them.
6. If you could offer a first-time Creative entrepreneur only one piece of advice, what would it be?
Create a marketing holistic ‘strategic’ plan. A strategic plan is more big picture of how you plan to develop your brand’s exposure through various tactics that support the overall strategy or end-goal(s). Set yourself up for success, it’s important to also understand the motive for doing X if you are trying to achieve Y result. So be clear what you focus on and what is it you are ultimately trying to accomplish, clarifying the key tactics that leads up to the big picture or ‘strategy’. For example, your goal is to increase revenue by X dollars in the second quarter is part of a strategic plan, while saying you will convert 5 social media followers into Clients, which is a ‘tactic’ that supports the overall ‘strategy’. Create measurable results to know how your efforts then yield the type of results you desire. Be willing to be flexible to try new things when you review results as well.
